Hadassah Greater Kansas City has announced a celebratory luncheon, “A Lifetime of Light,” to honor the enduring contributions of two pillars of the community, Marian Kaplan and Rita Shapiro.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, at 11:30 a.m. in Lenexa, Kansas. The luncheon aims to recognize Kaplan and Shapiro for their decades of leadership and service, which have significantly bolstered Hadassah’s mission of healing and advocacy both locally and globally.
“Marian and Rita have embodied the light of Hadassah for generations,” Hadassah President Liz Bamberger said. “Their dedication has inspired many and strengthened the impact of our chapter, the region and the national organization as a whole.”
The afternoon will feature a series of reflections and stories celebrating the honorees’ accomplishments. A centerpiece of the event will be the presentation of the “A Lifetime of Light Tribute Book,” a collection of gratitude and memories compiled in their honor.
Community members wishing to attend must register by June 1. Registration and payment must be done at tinyurl.com/v79h7ac5; no walk-ins will be permitted.
In addition to attending, supporters are invited to purchase tributes for the commemorative book. Options range from full-page “Luminary” tributes to “Ray of Light” name listings. The deadline for tribute purchases is May 25.
